Prof. Boštjan Dimnik, rojen 9. avgusta 1977, se je glasbeno oblikoval na Glasbeni šoli Moste–Polje v Ljubljani (prof. Venčeslav Lenarčič), na Srednji glasbeni in baletni šoli v Ljubljani (prof. Igor Karlin) ter na Akademiji za glasbo v Ljubljani (prof. Alojz Zupan, prof. Andrej Zupan). Med študijem se je dodatno izpopolnjeval pri priznanih profesorjih v tujini: Julian Farrell (Anglija), Pierre A. Tallar (Švica), Mate Bekavac (Slovenija), Massimiliano Miani (Italija), Jan Cober (Nizozemska), József Balogh (Madžarska).

Kot klarinetist je sodeloval z Orkestrom Simfonikov RTV Slovenija, Munich Jungen Philharmonie, komornim orkestrom Academia Ars Musicae, Obalnim komornim orkestrom, Musique Militaire Grand-Ducale Luxembourg, Koninklijke Sainte Cécile Eijsden, Evropskim mladinskim pihalnim orkestrom (European Union Youth Wind Orchestra) ter Orkestrom Slovenske vojske. Kot solist, komorni glasbenik in dirigent je prejel več nagrad na državnih in mednarodnih tekmovanjih, ob zaključku študija pa tudi študentsko Prešernovo nagrado za izjemne glasbene dosežke, med katerimi posebej izstopa solistični nastop z Orkestrom Simfonikov RTV Slovenija.

Z dirigiranjem se je začel ukvarjati med študijem klarineta na Akademiji za glasbo v Ljubljani pod mentorstvom prof. Lovra Arniča. Leta 2014 je z odliko zaključil magistrski študij dirigiranja na Konservatoriju v Maastrichtu (Nizozemska) pri svetovno priznanem dirigentu prof. Janu Coberju v sodelovanju z orkestrom Musique Militaire Grand-Ducale Luxembourg. V letih 2008 in 2010 je kot aktivni udeleženec »International Conducting Academy« dirigiral simfoničnemu pihalnemu orkestru Rundfunk-Blasorchester Leipzig.

Kot asistent dirigenta prof. Jana Coberja in kot solo klarinetist je sodeloval z orkestrom Koninklijke Sainte Cécile Eijsden (Nizozemska, svetovni prvak WMC 2009, 2013), projektom Wind Band Maastricht–Tilburg (Nizozemska, 2014) ter Evropskim mladinskim pihalnim orkestrom (European Union Youth Wind Orchestra) v Luksemburgu in na Nizozemskem (2013, 2017). Leta 2017 je kot prvi glav­ni dirigent vodil projekt Slovenski mladinski pihalni orkester, v katerem je več let pred tem deloval kot mentor za klarinet, leta 2014 pa kot dirigent orkestra Musica Creativa. Občasno sodeluje tudi kot asistent dirigenta Evropskega mladinskega pihalnega orkestra. Leta 2019 je sodeloval s Policijskim orkestrom v sklopu praznovanj ob poklonu skladatelju Tomažu Habetu. Do danes je posnel devet zgoščenk.

Od leta 2021 deluje kot umetniški vodja in dirigent projekta »Muziciraj z Melodijo«. Novembra 2023 je kot dirigent in umetniški vodja vodil prvi Mednarodni festival ALPE ADRIA – CLARINET 2023. V okviru festivala je pod njegovo taktirko nastopil orkester ALPE ADRIA Clarinet Orchestra z mednarodno zasedbo uveljavljenih evropskih klarinetistov.

Med njegove zadnje odmevne projekte sodi koncert z naslovom »Leben Sinfonie«, ki je bil izveden aprila 2023 v Ossiacher Akademie (Avstrija), kjer je nastopil kot dirigent in solist na klarinetu. Pri tem je s sodelujočima avstrijskima orkestroma krstno izvedel skladbo avstrijskega skladatelja Stefana Rothschopfa, napisano za simfonični pihalni orkester, otroški zbor in dva solistična instrumenta, klarinet in violončelo. Koncert je posnela avstrijska nacionalna radiotelevizija ORF in ga v maju 2023 predvajala na svojem programu.

Trenutno deluje predvsem v sosednji Avstriji kot dirigent in klarinetist profesionalnega komornega ansambla WIND ENSEMBLE LUX z mednarodno zasedbo s sedežem v Beljaku (Villach), kot šef dirigent Musikvereina Laßnitz ter od leta 2026 tudi kot član in umetniški vodja zasedbe LUMEN WIND TRIO.

Kot umetnika ga podpira podjetje YAMAHA MUSIC EUROPE, ki mu je leta 2021 podelilo naziv Yamaha Artist. Igra na klarineta YAMAHA CSG III L Bb/A ter bas klarinet YCL‑622.

Professor Boštjan Dimnik, born on August 9, 1977, received his musical education at the Moste–Polje Music School in Ljubljana (Prof. Venčeslav Lenarčič), the Secondary School of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana (Prof. Igor Karlin) and the Academy of Music in Ljubljana (Prof. Alojz Zupan, Prof. Andrej Zupan). During his studies he further refined his skills with renowned professors abroad, including Julian Farrell (England), Pierre A. Tallar (Switzerland), Mate Bekavac (Slovenia), Massimiliano Miani (Italy), Jan Cober (Netherlands) and József Balogh (Hungary).

As a clarinetist, he has performed with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Jungen Philharmonie, the Academia Ars Musicae Chamber Orchestra, the Coastal Symphony Orchestra, Musique Militaire Grand-Ducale Luxembourg, Koninklijke Sainte Cécile Eijsden, the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra and the Slovenian Army Orchestra. As a soloist, chamber musician and conductor, he has received several competition prizes and, upon completion of his studies, the Prešeren Award for outstanding musical achievements, most notably for his solo performance with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra.

He began his conducting studies while enrolled in clarinet at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under the guidance of Prof. Lovro Arnič. In 2014 he successfully completed his master’s degree in conducting at the Conservatorium Maastricht (Netherlands) with the world‑renowned Dutch conductor Prof. Jan Cober, in collaboration with the Musique Militaire Grand-Ducale Luxembourg. In 2008 and 2010 he took part as an active participant in the “International Conducting Academy”, conducting the Rundfunk-Blasorchester Leipzig symphonic wind orchestra.

As assistant conductor to Prof. Jan Cober and as principal clarinetist, he has worked with Koninklijke Sainte Cécile Eijsden (Netherlands, WMC World Champion 2009, 2013), the Wind Band Project Maastricht–Tilburg (Netherlands, 2014) and the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra in Luxembourg and the Netherlands (2013, 2017). In 2017 he led the Slovenian Youth Wind Orchestra as its first principal conductor, having previously worked with the ensemble for several years as a clarinet mentor, and in 2014 as conductor of the Musica Creativa Orchestra. He occasionally appears as assistant conductor with the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra. In 2019 he collaborated with the Slovenian Police Orchestra as part of the celebrations dedicated to composer Tomaž Habe. To date he has recorded nine CDs.

Since 2021 he has been working as artistic director and conductor of the project “Muziciraj z Melodijo”. In November 2023 he served as conductor and artistic director of the first International Festival ALPE ADRIA – CLARINET 2023. Within the framework of the festival, the ALPE ADRIA Clarinet Orchestra performed under his baton with an international lineup of established European clarinetists.

One of his most recent high‑profile projects was the concert entitled “Leben Sinfonie”, given in April 2023 at the Ossiacher Akademie (Austria), where he appeared as conductor and clarinet soloist. On this occasion he premiered a work by Austrian composer Stefan Rothschopf with two Austrian wind orchestras. The composition was written for symphonic wind orchestra, children’s choir and two solo instruments, clarinet and cello. The concert was recorded by the Austrian national broadcaster ORF and aired in May 2023.

He is currently active primarily in Austria as a conductor and clarinetist with the professional chamber ensemble WIND ENSEMBLE LUX, an international ensemble based in Villach (Beljak), Austria, as Chief Conductor of Musikverein Laßnitz and, from 2026, also as a member and artistic director of the LUMEN WIND TRIO.

As an artist, he is supported by YAMAHA MUSIC EUROPE, which awarded him the title Yamaha Artist in 2021. He performs on YAMAHA CSG III L Bb/A clarinets and a YCL‑622 bass clarinet.

Professor Boštjan Dimnik, geboren am 9. August 1977, erhielt seine musikalische Ausbildung an der Musikschule Moste–Polje in Ljubljana (Prof. Venčeslav Lenarčič), an der Mittel- und Oberschule für Musik und Ballett in Ljubljana (Prof. Igor Karlin) sowie an der Musikakademie in Ljubljana (Prof. Alojz Zupan, Prof. Andrej Zupan). Während seines Studiums vervollkommnete er seine Kenntnisse bei renommierten Professoren im Ausland, darunter Julian Farrell (England), Pierre A. Tallar (Schweiz), Mate Bekavac (Slowenien), Massimiliano Miani (Italien), Jan Cober (Niederlande) und József Balogh (Ungarn).

Als Klarinettist konzertierte er mit dem RTV Slowenien Symphonieorchester, der Munich Jungen Philharmonie, dem Kammerorchester Academia Ars Musicae, dem Küsten-Symphonieorchester, der Musique Militaire Grand-Ducale Luxembourg, der Koninklijke Sainte Cécile Eijsden, dem European Union Youth Wind Orchestra sowie mit dem Orchester der Slowenischen Armee. Als Solist, Kammermusiker und Dirigent wurde er mehrfach bei Wettbewerben ausgezeichnet und erhielt nach Abschluss seines Studiums den Prešeren-Preis für herausragende musikalische Leistungen, insbesondere für seinen Solistenauftritt mit dem RTV Slowenien Symphonieorchester.

Sein Dirigierstudium begann er während des Klarinettenstudiums an der Musikakademie in Ljubljana unter der Leitung von Prof. Lovro Arnič. Im Jahr 2014 schloss er sein Masterstudium im Fach Dirigieren am Conservatorium Maastricht (Niederlande) bei dem weltweit anerkannten Dirigenten Prof. Jan Cober in Zusammenarbeit mit der Musique Militaire Grand-Ducale Luxembourg erfolgreich ab. In den Jahren 2008 und 2010 nahm er als aktiver Teilnehmer an der „International Conducting Academy“ teil und dirigierte dort das sinfonische Blasorchester Rundfunk-Blasorchester Leipzig.

Als Assistent von Prof. Jan Cober und als Solo-Klarinettist arbeitete er mit der Koninklijke Sainte Cécile Eijsden (Niederlande, WMC-Weltmeister 2009, 2013), dem Projekt Wind Band Maastricht–Tilburg (Niederlande, 2014) sowie mit dem European Union Youth Wind Orchestra in Luxemburg und in den Niederlanden (2013, 2017). Im Jahr 2017 leitete er als erster Chefdirigent das Projekt Slowenisches Jugendsinfonisches Blasorchester, in dem er zuvor mehrere Jahre als Klarinettenmentor tätig war, und 2014 als Dirigent des Orchesters Musica Creativa. Gelegentlich wirkt er auch als Assistenzdirigent des European Union Youth Wind Orchestra. 2019 arbeitete er im Rahmen der Feierlichkeiten zu Ehren des Komponisten Tomaž Habe mit dem Polizeiorchester Slowenien zusammen. Bisher hat er neun CDs eingespielt.

Seit 2021 ist er als künstlerischer Leiter und Dirigent des Projekts „Muziciraj z Melodijo“ tätig. Im November 2023 war er Dirigent und künstlerischer Leiter des ersten Internationalen Festivals ALPE ADRIA – CLARINET 2023. Im Rahmen des Festivals trat das ALPE ADRIA Clarinet Orchestra unter seiner Leitung mit einer internationalen Besetzung renommierter europäischer Klarinettisten auf.

Zu seinen jüngsten bedeutenden Projekten zählt das Konzert „Leben Sinfonie“, das im April 2023 an der Ossiacher Akademie (Österreich) stattfand, bei dem er als Dirigent und Klarinettensolist auftrat. Dabei brachte er gemeinsam mit zwei österreichischen Blasorchestern ein Werk des österreichischen Komponisten Stefan Rothschopf zur Uraufführung, geschrieben für sinfonisches Blasorchester, Kinderchor und zwei Soloinstrumente, Klarinette und Violoncello. Das Konzert wurde vom österreichischen Rundfunk ORF aufgezeichnet und im Mai 2023 ausgestrahlt.

Derzeit ist er vor allem in Österreich tätig: als Dirigent und Klarinettist des professionellen Kammerensembles WIND ENSEMBLE LUX mit internationaler Besetzung mit Sitz in Villach (Beljak), als Chefdirigent des Musikvereins Laßnitz sowie ab 2026 auch als Mitglied und künstlerischer Leiter des LUMEN WIND TRIO.

Als Künstler wird er von YAMAHA MUSIC EUROPE unterstützt, das ihm 2021 den Titel Yamaha Artist verliehen hat. Er spielt auf YAMAHA CSG III L B‑/A‑Klarinetten und einer Bassklarinette YCL‑622.
